Stacy Hopkins’ Work on display at Saint Gaudens National Park and Rockefeller- Billings National Park and Estate. Her perspective on modern jewelry making is to be part of Saint Gauden’s 2 year traveling exhibit

"The trajectory of modern jewelry making is as exhilarating as it is terrifying.
In current times, we have more options open to us than ever before. Jewelry can be contemporary art, assembled out of "non valuable" materials, (ie. reclaimed metals, found objects, plastics, cement etc.), to create fascinating conceptual pieces. We can use the aid of computer software, 3d printing and prototyping with interfaces such as CAD. With these aids, the complexity of form available to us is endless. On the flip side, we run the risk of relying too heavily on technology, shadowing artisanal techniques, true mastery of skill and a thorough understanding of the materials. We also run the risk of overexploiting the earth, mining rare materials for mass produced items and losing respect for what we are doing.
Hopefully, we can be conscientious and ask ourselves what we enjoy from jewelry. Is it the intent and skill of the jeweler who creates something fascinating or is all that is desired the prestige of materials?"
