Stacy Hopkins’ Work on display at Saint Gaudens National Park and Rockefeller- Billings National Park and Estate. Her perspective on modern jewelry making is to be part of Saint Gauden’s 2 year traveling exhibit

"The trajectory of modern jewelry making is as exhilarating as it is terrifying.
In current times, we have more options open to us than ever before. Jewelry can be contemporary art, assembled out of "non valuable" materials, (ie. reclaimed metals, found objects, plastics, cement etc.), to create fascinating conceptual pieces. We can use the aid of computer software, 3d printing and prototyping with interfaces such as CAD. With these aids, the complexity of form available to us is endless. On the flip side, we run the risk of relying too heavily on technology, shadowing artisanal techniques, true mastery of skill and a thorough understanding of the materials. We also run the risk of overexploiting the earth, mining rare materials for mass produced items and losing respect for what we are doing.
Hopefully, we can be conscientious and ask ourselves what we enjoy from jewelry. Is it the intent and skill of the jeweler who creates something fascinating or is all that is desired the prestige of materials?"

Celebrating the First Year of Scavenger Gallery

First Friday May 03, 2013

Scav.side1.jpg

We are proud to celebrate our first year of being a Gallery this May 2013!!

We have evolved significantly over the past year and we hope you can join us in honoring the wonderful creations and artists who have given the gallery such vibrancy!

Another reason to celebrate is that Scavenger will be a proud retail location for specialty wines from Artisanal Cellars.

We will feature four distinct wines during each tasting, and this selection which will be available for remainder of the month. WInes may be special ordered and you may purchase mixed cases!

Tastings will be held every First Friday at 5:30, allowing you to sample the new varietals as you browse and enjoy the art! We provide information sheets with wine descriptions, so spread the word to wine connoisseurs! This will be a social/ cultural way to expand your knowledge and portfolio of excellent wines!

Thank you for your support and attendance! We look forward to providing you with more exhibitions and innovative events!
